Wedding Card Design

A charming young couple from Vancouver wanted an elegant invitation with a hint of humour. To weave their story and wedding concept into the design, I recreated their favourite animals into vector icons and added a mix of classy and modern fonts.

Objectives:

  1. Create a website template that works with WIX

  2. Include illustration and graphics element on the card design

After finalizing the card design, I moved onto the website on WIX. My clients already set up a blank template with all the information about the ceremony, event schedule and details. Before directly editing the website on the WIX platform, I created a greyscale and colour mock-up to visualize the transition of visual language from print to website.

Visual Design

First of all, I had to think about who were my clients. One of them is an organized, classy and calm type. The other person is an unpredictable, fun and cheerful individual. I wanted to make sure that the invitation reflects the theme of the wedding and the stars of the event.

The wedding theme included bees, flowers and a ship (because their wedding was at the UBC boathouse). My clients wanted a colour combination of wine red, royal blue and gold as well. I decided to use a flower hoop as a design concept because it was one of their wedding decorations. Also, the idea incorporates the geometric graphic clients wanted. As for the flower, I went with one of the client's favourite flowers, peonies. The circle, honeycomb shape, fox and corgi illustration reflect the unique characteristics of the couple.
